Abstracts

Sometimes when I go out to photograph something, I don't always know what I am looking for. Those are the times I look for something that catches my eye, as these two images did. Both of these were taken looking into water, one a reflection, the other small stones on the bottom.

Transition

For a couple of months now, I have been in transition. For the last 12 years, I have been shooting fashion, model portfolios, and a few assignments. This has all come to an end as I move into the world of fine art. After a few art shows, and selling a lot of prints, I have come to realize this is what I want to do.

It is not an easy thing to break into the art world, but I am on that journey now. I have not only made changes to my blog and my web site, but have also joined Facebook; and will look at other ways to get my images out for people to see.

I am excited as I look forward to some upcoming shows.

Special Light

As photographers we are hunters of light. When the light is good, we can capture some amazing shots.

Last Friday I walked back to my car from downtown around 8 p.m.; and after a day of rain, the sun broke out over the lake as it was setting and threw some wonderful golden light onto this scene of a church steeple. This is why I always try to have a camera with me.

Street fight

I have seen just about everything imaginable downtown, and this past Friday was no exception. I saw quite a few people hanging out in front of the mall, and I knew something was about to happen; so, camera ready, I went over. Then someone started a countdown from five, and a huge street pillow fight began! It lasted for two minutes.

This is the nice thing about always having a camera with you. This time it was my Canon G9. You never know what you will see, and how many times you miss an opportunity to photograph something simply because you left your camera at home!

Spring, finally here!

It has been a long winter, and I haven't been outdoors to shoot since fall.

This past Saturday one of my models, Lindsay, came up from Boston to do a shoot with me. I especially loved the image below. I have been doing a series called "The Black Hoodie," and this image captured what I had envisioned.

Winter is here!

Cold weather is upon us and for me it is difficult to get out and shoot. I do not like the cold. This year, I am going to try to get myself out and shoot more -- not just street photos, but landscapes also.

Milkweed

I took a ride with a friend out of the city to catch some good fall shots, and came across this milkweed patch.
